eighteen month checkup

Lena had her eighteen month checkup today.

She's been really hating the doctor lately and she seems to keep having to go there.  As soon as she sees the door to the office, she gets upset.  And she calms down when she can play with the trains in the waiting room but when the nurse opens the door and says "Lena," she goes ballistic.  So we were delighted that the blueberries we brought along kept her calm when the doctor finally came in the room and Lena actually didn't cry too much at all during the visit.  In fact, this was the first appointment she has ever had where she was not crying at the time they were going to administer the shots. And she handled it really well.  We also learned that after today, she will not need another shot until she is four years old!  Up until now, every well visit has involved at least one shot so this is very exciting.  And thanks to Grammie for giving Lena a medical kit - it did seem to help as you could tell she was more observant of the stethoscope than afraid of it.
Height: 31 inches (25-50%)

Weight: 25 lbs (50-75%)

Head: 48.5 cm (90%)
Lena didn't want to talk much to her doctor but when the doctor suggested to Lena that maybe we could go to the playground afterward, Lena shot her fists in the air and said, "Playground!  Playground!"  So we brought her over for a visit.  She discovered the concept of hanging from things so we let her venture onto the monkey bars to really give it a try - she was super proud.
