eleven months

This past week, you turned eleven months!

The biggest milestone was definitely you starting to walk!  I checked back to when Lena started walking and it was on October 16, 11 days before you did on October 27, and her birthday is 11 days before yours ... so that means you started walking on the same day of life!  Pretty cool.

You now have seven teeth and they are a lot more pronounced than they had been so I think that is why you're starting to look a little different - the toothy smile - plus your hair is getting longer.  First official haircut may be on the horizon.

You seem to be saying more sounds now.  You say ma ma and da da and we think you may be referring to us but it's not entirely clear.  You still love when you say a sound and we reply back with it - it makes you laugh and you keep doing it over and over and laugh every time we respond.  It makes for entertaining car rides when it's just you and me.

You're not as into books as Lena was at this age.  Part of it is perhaps we don't read to you as often but it's also just that you want to move around more than she did.  You do have a book that is a favorite with lift the flap pictures of animals.  You enjoy reading that one over and over again and will sometimes look for it in your room.

You still wake up to eat some nights but I don't mind because you're a great sleeper.  Whenever you do eat, you go right back to sleep and you sleep long hours over night.  You're also very easy to get down.  No more needing to hold you to sleep, we put you in the crib and you find sleep on your own. You're also napping much better at school which is a relief.  You've transitioned into one nap per day.

You are getting better with eating.  We have been giving you whatever we're eating for dinner and we've pulled your chair right up to the table so it feels like you're more part of the family.  Just this past week, you enjoyed bits of sushi, burritos, and spaghetti with us.  You're definitely not a picky eater, just not a big eater!

You have definitely put it together that expressing your sadness will get things you want.  As a result, a bit more crying is going on than we're used to.  But lots more laughter too.

Can't believe we'll be celebrating your first birthday soon!
