three months

You turned three months today.  You have been with us for a quarter of a year!  You are more fun everyday.  I am going to get rid of the Dislikes and Likes list because it seems you are disliking a lot less and liking a lot more. You generally only seem to get upset when you are bored or tired and we can usually solve the problem in either instance.

During this month, you went on your first trip outside the state.  You met your first friends - Beatrice, who is our friends Kevin and Monica's second daughter, and Grady, whose mom, Carrie, I met while walking you in the neighborhood (though you and Grady have actually never seen each other).  You also started attending My Fit Mommy classes at the mall with me where I work out with other mothers while you and the other babies sit in your strollers and watch.  Most of the other babies sleep but you like to watch me and seem to get amused watching me exercise in front of you.  When you don't see me or anyone else, you eventually cry out of boredom, which makes you the most frequent crier in the bunch.  I rather like it though, especially when it gets me out of push-ups.  You also helped us celebrate our one year wedding anniversary, but more on that later.

You started visiting daycare and practiced being there all by yourself.  You actually won't be going to that one, though, because we got off the waiting list at one we like much better.  We were both uncertain about how this whole daycare thing would go after bringing you for visits to the first one but after visiting the second one and deciding to move you, we feel so much better and are confident that daycare is where you should be and that this one is the place for you.  The whole experience has taught us just how many tough decisions we will have to make to ensure we have you situated the best that we can.

You really enjoy being sung to and your face lights up whenever I start singing.  Sometimes you join me by making lots of noises while I sing.  You have started to enjoy reading books.  If we combine the two and sing a book (i.e., Chicka Chicka Boom Boom, Old McDonald Had a Farm), you are really happy.

We are starting to transition you out of the swaddle as well as out of the bassinet and into your crib in your own room.  We think this may be a harder transition for us as we love to have you near us as much as possible.  But you start daycare next week where you will be sleeping in a crib and you need to get comfortable with the extra space.  Plus, you are running out of room in your bassinet.

Milestones:

You are quite the chatterbox now.  You enjoy making lots of noises, especially when you are on your changing table. It seems to be the first sign of conversation as you do it most often when our faces are close to yours and we are making eye contact.  You also started laughing, though it only happens once every few days as you apparently don't find us all that amusing.

You rolled over, albeit only once and over a week ago.  You continue to bat toys that hang above you and are able to grab on to them and it seems intentional.  You have also started to hold toys put in front of you, though it usually does not last very long.

Lena, you really seem to get cuter as time passes.  Just about everyday, one of us will undoubtedly say to the other how much we love you and how happy we are that you are in our lives.  We feel so blessed.  I am going to miss this continuous one-on-one time we have had over these past three months - it was so unbelievably special and I am surprised that I can have such a great buddy in such a young, little person.
