the pacific

Yesterday morning, on our first full morning in California, Lena and I were the first ones up so we made our way over to a beautiful overlook.

We were able to see some dolphins too.  They're hard to see in this picture but they were definitely there and it was quite special.  It was very peaceful as there were only a few people out and the dolphins and a man on a paddle board trying to swim with them.

Lena was disappointed we couldn't reach the beach from where we were, she kept saying "Beach!  Beach!"  So we made sure to get to the beach later in the day so she could touch the Pacific.  This time Jay came with us and it was a memorable experience for our family.  We realized that a quiet beach is a good place to bring a kid if you just want to relax and have them keep themselves entertained with the sand and the new surroundings.

We were once again the first people up this morning so we made our way to a new beach with some breakfast burritos and a nectarine.  This time, we saw a seal quite close up who kept jumping out of the water, and then a big pack of dolphins in the far distance.  Lena enjoyed herself once again.
